Malcperl Engineering was established in 2007 to provide quality and personalised services across the experience and capability of the principal.

Main Project Types

  • Planning, investigation, design, construction management, commissioning, operator training and operation review of sand bypassing systems.
  • Planning and design of marine infrastructure including wharves, breakwaters, navigation aids, and navigation channels.

Principal - Malcolm Pound

Malcolm has strong project management and coordination skills, and has worked within various project delivery methods including traditional engineering design, alliancing, design and construct, and build-own-operate-transfer. He has excellent communication skills and is experienced in coordinating multi-discipline project teams to achieve high level outcomes.

Representative projects where he has been responsible for project review, technical direction, project management, and design management include:

  • Brisbane City Council. Study Manager for an appraisal Study for the raising or replacement of the Mt Crosby weir, to improve the supply and reliability of water supply to Brisbane (2007).
  • McConnell Dowell Constructors. Tweed River Entrance Sand Bypassing System (2002). Project Manager for design of a 420m jetty across the Letitia Spit beach supporting ten jet pumps to recover sand, a 2.5 MW sand slurry pump station and 6 km of 400 mm diameter polyurethane lined steel slurry pipelines through Coolangatta, to bypass sand past the Tweed River Entrance.
  • Dome Resources Limited. Tolukuma Hydro Electric Scheme, PNG (1996). Project Manager for design of a 1.8 MW scheme supplying a remote gold mine with access only by helicopter. The project includes 1.4 km of pipeline up to 1800 mm diameter, 3 turgo turbine generators, 22kV transmission line and an automatic load control system also operating a diesel power station.
  • Gold Coast City Council. Hinze Dam Stage 2 (1987). Engineering Manager for a 14 metre raising of clay core rock fill dam, including investigations, hydrology, spillway model testing, spillway, outlet tower, pump station, relocation of 0.5km of 900 mm diameter rising main and facilities.
  • Leighton Baulderstone Bilfinger Berger Joint Venture. North South Bypass Tunnel, responsible for development and implementation of a design verification system to ensure that all design is documented and undertaken in accordance with the strict project requirements (2007).
  • Department of Works. Highlands Highway, Kassam Pass to Daulo Pass (1981). Bridge Engineer for the design and construction supervision of eight new two-lane bridges, rehabilitation of 24 existing bridges and major culvert structures including scour protection and river training.
